1980 MGB Limited

The Last Year of the MGB
102K Miles
Sitting since 2014
Parts or Restore?

January 20,2025 - There's no better way to ring out the old year and celebrate the new than buying another car!  Well, at least for a Caroholic.  So here is the soon-to-be latest addition to my collection of MGs. She's a 1980, the last year MGBs were produced, with a standard 4-speed and MG luggage rack and AM-FM radio.

Sad to say, this is actually a quote from December 2010, the last time I bought a 1980 MGB! This one has the advantage of being an actual Limited Edition model, but has suffered from neglect and a relatively tough life.  The carb is missing and the driver's door has been replaced, the top fabric is absent, and there is rust in the doglegs and one rocker, plus dents on the left front fender and a badly bent trunk lid. However, I have most everything the car needs, and can at least try to get it running. If I can do that, then the next step will be determining what the car needs to get back on the road.  The brakes are still up, though the clutch hydraulics are shot, and the tires look pretty good.  The car was stored in a 3-sided shelter, so it really is not in bad condition to have been sitting more than a decade. If all seems feasible, my next step is trying to get a title, something else the car is missing. Other than a battery, I think I have everything the car needs already in stock. And if it turns out to be a parts car, I like the LE wheels, the car has a good windshield, and there are bunches of other good items ready to snag!
